A charitable gift annuity can be a rewarding opportunity to generate lifelong income for yourself or a dependent, while also creating a gift to benefit a meaningful cause. It is one of the many ways friends of The University of Texas at Arlington consider their financial futures while supporting the next generation of talented students.

Mary (BA '69, English) and Connor Scott, longtime Arlington community members, decided to support the University through a joint charitable gift annuity, demonstrating their desire to pass forward resources and their commitment to student success. Through the annuity, the couple received a consistent income, and after Connor passed away in July 2021 and Mary passed in March 2022, the remaining funds were donated to the University.

The Scotts' annuity provided funds to create the Mary E. Scott Endowed Scholarship, which will benefit students in the College of Liberal Arts, where Mary earned her degree.

Scholarships are critical resources that help UTA recruit and retain the best and the brightest students from around the country and the world while advancing them along their career paths. Through the generosity of donors like the Scotts, these promising scholars receive the financial assistance they need to achieve their academic goals and become the next generation of professional and community leaders.
